Thoughts from Muir Group Housing Association

3 August | More Than Homes | News

Helping people cope with the fallout from the COVID-19 crisis is critical, says Muir Group Housing Association, Executive Director of Operations director, Sam Scott.

Muir has become the latest housing association to throw its weight behind the national ‘More Than Homes’ campaign to raise £1million for the Trussell Trust to help people affected by the financial impact of COVID-19.

Food banks reported a massive 89% upturn in usage by families during April 2020, according to More Than Homes.

Sam believes the housing sector can’t underestimate the difference this funding could make to people and families facing poverty as the economic impact of the crisis becomes a reality.

“The economic impact of COVID-19 on individuals and families quickly became a worrying reality for many when lockdown struck,” said Sam, following a £10,000 Muir donation to the More Than Homes campaign.

“The fallout will cause financial worries for many people for many months and years to come.

“Supporting people and families in a crisis such as this is critically important and is at the heart of Muir’s social purpose.

“The importance of working together across the housing sector to help alleviate some of the impacts of the current crisis cannot be underestimated.

“Muir wants to help make a difference by supporting this national campaign.”
